Easy Home Remedies That Can Help You Control Diabetes

Nature has overwhelmed us with so many plants and foods having rich medicinal value. These plants and foods have been used by us and by our ancestors to treat various health and medical conditions. Some of these herbs and foods are already present in our kitchen, the need is to get knowledge about them and their health benefits.
We can easily manage diabetes by using these herbs and foods. These herbs and foods have a great property to control the blood sugar levels. Eating food with low sugar content and less carbs are good for high blood sugar condition. Some of the food and herbs to manage high blood sugar levels are-

Jamun Seeds Powder – Jamun seeds are one of the richest sources of two ingredients that help in lowering down the release of glucose into the blood . These ingredients are Jambosine and Jambolive. Both these ingredients are very effective. These ingredients also check frequent urination and thirst of the diabetic.

Method – To make its powder take 250 to 300 grams of jamuns and let them dry completely. Mash them and store them in an airtight jar. Its suggested dose is one tablespoon powder twice a day.

Fenugreek Greek seeds also called Methi seeds – The alkaloids present in these seeds activate pancreas to release insulin which helps to store sugar into the cells and lowers down the sugar in the blood and also helps in delaying the absorption of sugar.

Method – One tablespoon of Fenugreek seeds can be boiled with 2 glasses of water, keep overnight, filter it and consume it the next morning on an empty stomach.

Curry Leaves – Curry leaves are a rich source of antioxidants. These curry leaves when mixed with kitchen ingredients like Fenugreek seeds, Ginger and cinnamon is a killer combination to treat diabetes.

Method – Take 10 curry leaves, 1 stick of cinnamon, a little piece of ginger, one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds with two glasses of water. Boil the mixture on low to medium flame until the water boils to one glass. Let it cool at room temperature and filter it. Take this concoction half glass in the morning and half glass at night to achieve the desired results.

Amla Juice – Amla or Indian gooseberry is a rich source of antioxidants and Vitamin-C. In Vedas the amla tree is also called the “Dev Vriksha”. This mark of respect shows how much the amla is beneficial for our health. Amla regulates carbohydrate metabolism and stimulates pancreas for insulin production, thus is very much helpful in controlling the high blood sugar levels.

Method – It is very easy to make Amla Juice at home. Take 4-5 Amlas, remove the seeds and grind it with one glass of water and consume preferably on an empty stomach.

Ladyfinger or Okra seeds powder– Plenty of myricetin present in okra helps in increasing the cellular absorption of blood glucose and also lowers down the absorption of sugar by intestines. In this way, it reduces the blood sugar levels effectively.

Method – To make the drink, take out the seeds by cutting the pieces horizontally. Put these seeds in sunlight and let them dry completely. Make powder of these seeds and consume with a glass of water, twice a day.
To manage the blood sugar levels, eat more of fiber and manage your carb intake. Drink enough of water to flush out excessive sugar through urination. Maintain a stress-free lifestyle and get enough of sleep.
